Prelude

To the most eminent inhabitants of the Coral Palace I humbly present this new form of Art, the art of life-stories, or as it might have been called in the ancient tongue, paeklibhao.

Out of all the lords of the land, I have chosen Isde Ikhsior as my subject, for I have had the privilege of serving at his side ever since he unexpectedly inherited the position of Eplakil of Seteblite.

His life as courtier may not, perhaps, be as invigorating a subject as his earlier adventures as commander of a trading vessel, but the affairs of the truly eminent must surely be worthy of the court's attention, and so in my own small way I attempt to serve the causes of art and truth.

Written by my own hand
Deule, scribe
