Additional Ways to Earn Points

Mostly one earns points by interacting with the site: Leaving comments, playing games and so forth. But there are a few other ways you can earn extra Points. (Any abuse of the point system will lead to your points and/or your site membership being revoked.)

Spotting a typo, or reporting a technical problem. (200 Points)

Post a review of one of my books on your personal site or blog, or almost anywhere other than Amazon really. (1000 Points)

Review must be well thought out and at least 150 words long. Each book reviewed gets only one reward regardless of the number of places you post reviews for it, except under exceptional circumstances.
Why doesn't a review on Amazon count? Because I'm not famous, and Amazon is huge. Nobody finds me on Amazon. They find me first, and then go to Amazon to buy my book. So your review does me the most good if you post it somewhere else, where people who have never heard of me before might actually see it.

Send me simple black and white fan art. (2000 pts)

Send me simple colored fan art. (4000 pts)

Send me extremely elaborate fan art. (8000 pts)

Don't try to paste your art into the form at the bottom of this page, for security reasons it doesn't take attachments. Use your regular email program. My email can be found below.

Betaread one of my books. (5000 pts)

You must send back at least 500 words worth of pithy comments to earn these points.

What you can spend Points on

The Jewelwyrm game uses points, as will some of the other games I am planning to create in the future. But your points can also be spent on the following items. Send me an email with your request, and when I have it ready, I will deduct the points.

A bigger image of your favorite Jewelwyrm (2000 Points)

Send me the jewelwyrm ID number and prefered background, and I can build you a portrait at 1200 x 1200 pixels.

An L.Shelby ebook (5000 Points)

I can send you an ebook of any one of my titles, even those that haven't been published, or that have been published but aren't generally available as ebooks. (Be aware that if I haven't published it yet, that means it hasn't been professionally copy-edited yet. Expect typos.) Please make sure that you tell me whether you want an Epub, an Epub that will be used in iBooks, or a Kindle file (actually, I will send you a Mobi file, but it will work on your kindle.) I may be able to provide other formats also.

A hand-tatted bookmark (8000 Points)

I will ship you completely free of charge one bookmark tatted using one of the designs displayed in the craft section of this site, in your choice of thread colors (not including metallics).

A 3D Portrait of your favorite L. Shelby character (10 000 Points)

Tell me which character, what sort of pose (must be Family Appropriate), the general look and purpose, and size. The resulting full size image will be emailed to you, and a smaller copy will be added to the site, with a comment that it was created at your request. I will retain the copyright to the image, but you will be free to use it for any non-commercial purpose you wish.

An L.Shelby paperback (15 000 Points)

I will ship you completely free of charge one copy of any one of my single volume (not omnibus), black and whitle printed, regularly available in hardcopy books. If you live somewhere hard to get to and shipping turns out to be hideously expensive, I will politely request that you not spend your points this way more than once.

A Digitally Painted Portrait of your favorite L. Shelby character (20 000 Points)

Tell me which character, what sort of pose (must be Family Appropriate), the general look and purpose, and needed size.
