70 -<height>80</height> ft tall, and 24-<diameter>36</diameter> inches in diameter. Bark is light-grey, unbroken and smooth throughout the tree's life. Beech trees are said to never be hit by lightening. Occures <quarter>throughout</quarter> the state, but makes its best growth in northeastern <native>Ohio</native>. Associated with Sugar Maples. Also found with Oaks and Hickories in the <soil>well-drained</soil> bottoms and glacial soils of south-western and western Ohio.
